About the Role: This opportunity will make you a part of Boston Scientific internship program that offers on-the-job training or project performed by university senior students at a company. The role will include activities related to metals characterization, chemical processes, installation, and validation of laboratory equipment. Identify and implement process improvements. The internship period will be for a period of up to 6 months and the student will receive a subsidy during their period on the company. Your Responsibilities Include: Support development and validation modified chemical processes in Materials Testing Analysis and Characterization (MTAC) laboratory for the new metallography equipment capacity. May include new chemical process and etching formulations. Prepare technical reports, analysis, recommendations, and presentations reflecting the status and results of metallography project in progress on a regular basis. Write procedures for the operation of new metallographic microscope. May also include assisting Operations in the training of operators to new procedures. Support process and equipment qualification activities, test method design. Also define training requirements for these activities and execute training. Set up new equipment, ensure satisfactory operation, safety requirements are met and instruct others to use the equipment properly. Identify and implement improvements to existing chemical manufacturing processes by incorporating lean principles, improving safety and yields through new equipment, equipment upgrades, training, workflow redesign and communication.? Responsibilities will include specification and/or design of equipment, oversight of fabrication by outside vendors, safety and associated capital appropriation requests. Prepare technical reports, analysis, recommendations, and presentations reflecting the status and results of projects in progress on a regular basis for MTAC laboratory. Support process and equipment qualification activities, test method design, as well as perform intermediate-advanced statistical analysis and communicate correctly documented results to teams. Also define training requirements for these activities and execute training. Create, maintain and update data files and forms, databases, spreadsheets and forms, such as the maintenance of the lab´s record file in order to ensure proper record flow, track and monitor department activities. If necessary, required to escalate concerns, trends and emerging issues that need addressing. Use documentation systems to research information and generate document changes, as well as use scientific knowledge to read and interpret SOPs and Work instructions in order to perform laboratory tests according to the requirements established in the lab. Coordinate the preventive maintenance tasks on equipment if requires and verify compliance of these task for respective functional unit by week’s end. Take, preserve, and provide follow up to units/samples. Use good laboratory practices to ensure accuracy of results. Look for the adequate help when needed and create the communication channels for the required support. Identify and collaborate in departmental initiatives related to best quality practices and continuous improvement. Collaborate to MTAC personnel investigations (proficient use of QA laboratory equipment) associated with respective QA Laboratories and correctly record data, collaborate in the creation of reports, and communicate internally with MTAC member results precisely, promptly and in a timely manner. What We’re Looking For: ? ??? At least 80% of studies completed in Bachelor Materials Science Engineering, Chemical or Chemical Engineering with knowledge in metals characterization. English Level:? B2: 80%. Required knowledge in: Metallurgy, Metallography Characterization, experience best practices in laboratory environment (University). Desirable knowledge in: Use of SEM, FTIR, DSC and TGA, ability to read an interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Available for a temporary Internship (6-12 months).
