JOB SUMMARY

Work’s independently and as part of a team to support the company’s environmental health and safety requirements. Scope of work includes workplace safety, health, emergency planning and environmental protection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serves as an advisor to business management on environmental, health, and safety issues. Helps prioritize and bring perspective to issues and presents alternative solutions.
  • Assists in development and implementation of plans and procedures to comply with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations. Modifies, updates, and executes established programs to achieve and maintain a state of compliance.
  • Performs work-site analysis of EHS risk factors. Analyzes job content and identifies solutions. Establishes specifications and criteria for technically sound processes and procedures. Works with management of specific groups to implement these criteria into best management practices.
  • Evaluates associate exposures to chemical, physical, and biological hazards using a variety of instrumentation. Interprets results and provides inputs on control measures where necessary.
  • Collects data, performs calculations, and generates reports on injury/illness, waste generation, waste minimization, air emissions, and water quality to local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Revises emergency response and contingency plans to reflect changes in operations, conditions, and materials used.
  • Develops and validates analytical techniques, written procedures, and standard protocols to support research, scientific, technical, or engineering-related disciplines.
  • Trains workforce on a wide variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental topics.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May give work direction to other technical resources.
  • May be responsible to act as the company’s representative with external agencies during functional audits.
  • May be required to provide technical input and support during inspections and other compliance or audit activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of and use of PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Prefer experience in environmental health, industrial hygiene, and/or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of standards and regulations such as OSHA, NFPA, INTECO, KPI related to accident rate, CCSS reports, strong knowledge in legal requirements and its applicability etc.
  • Knowledgeable of chemical, physical, and biological hazardous, and the techniques utilized to control those workplace hazards. Capable of articulating those hazards and controls to a wide variety of audiences.
  • General knowledge of engineering controls for machine automation processes including: guarding, LOTO, safety FMEA, RF welding.
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in the use of state of the art industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
  • Competent in ergonomic evaluation of office, manufacturing, and manual material handling tasks.
  • Skilled in incident investigation techniques, causal analysis, and occupational health.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office computer software, Outlook and Internet.
