At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.This position is responsible for supporting the Global Operations Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) – NPD team in developing, qualifying, and launching new products for the Sports Medicine Franchise.
The Advanced Mfg. Engineer II – NPD will be the operations new product development representative and will work with cross-functional teams both locally and at various manufacturing sites. This position is responsible for ensuring that timeline milestone commitments are achieved while meeting all Safety, Quality, and Cost requirements.Job level (for internal use only): ​P2What will you be doing?

  • Supports equipment specification creation, equipment acquisition, and implementation.
  • Supports Capital Expenditure process.
  • Works with partner groups at manufacturing sites to gain alignment and support to achieve project objectives.
  • Supports design for manufacturability (DFM) and process development efforts for new products in the pipeline.
  • Supports MVP, PFMEA, Process Mapping, and Critical to Quality documentation.
  • Supports the creation and review of process flow charts, assembly line layouts, capacity analysis, and line balance.
  • Provides input for the development of tooling and fixtures required to support NPD activities.

What will you need to be successful?​Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science or EngineeringLicense/Certifications: Solid Works is a plusExperience:

ACCOUNTANT II
  • At least 2 years of professional work experience in new product development.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the medical devices industry is preferred.
  • Experience in various metal, plastic, and/or electronics manufacturing methods, including but not limited to welding, machining, injection molding, circuit assembly, electrical testing, and programming is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in design or product transfer projects, meeting schedule and quality commitments.
  • Working knowledge of Process Validation.
  • Experience in operations deliverables/documentation.
  • Experience solving technical issues and driving sound engineering solutions.

Competencies:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, while working with cross-functional teams to achieve desired results.
  • Assembly fixture design and fabrication knowledge are preferred.
  • Must build productive internal/external relationships and collaborate with others in teams
  • Must be able to complete assignments with directional input and periodic guidance.
  • The ability to understand, interpret, follow, and improve Quality Systems.
  • Requires organizational and time management skills
